Bleeding Radiators

The first thing to do before you begin to bleed your radiators is make sure that your heating system is off and the radiators are cold. Then complete these 4 easy steps:

1. Grab yourself a cloth or a small towel to collect any water that may drip. The water from radiators can be pretty dirty, so be especially careful if you've got anything that could stain under the radiator.



2. Place the key on the bleed valve and gently turn anti-clockwise, holding the cloth underneath to catch any water.



3. When you hear air escaping stop turning, and keep the valve in the same position until the air stops escaping. You don't need to undo the valve any further.



4. When the air stops escaping and water starts dribbling out, turn the key clockwise to close it up again. Make sure you don't over tighten it - that can damage the screw fitting and make it more difficult to undo in future.
