Ensuring your hot water tank is properly insulated could reduce heat loss by as much as 75%. Even if your tank is already lagged, the Energy Saving Trust recommends it's worth checking that the insulation is at least 75mm thick. Fitting new insulation costs as little as £12 and could save you up to £20 a year, as well as reducing your carbon emissions by 160kg a year.
