A mean, green, living machine!
Every year, according to the Energy Saving Trust, Britons spend a total of £5 billion on electricity to power household appliances - that's around 50% of the average UK electricity bill. And this figure keeps on growing, so much so that consumer electronics are expected to account for half of all domestic energy use by 2020.
According to the Office of National Statistics, less than 1% of households had a tumble dryer or washer/dryer in 1970, but are now in over 55% of all households in the UK.
